First Madagascar Update!

Hello friends! This is my FIRST Madagascar update from right here in Nashville. :P Feel free to comment on this site or email me directly. I am getting ready to head out to training in VA on October 11th, and thus doing all the things that come before (renewing licenses, shipping medicines, catching up with friends and family, going through all my stuff figuring out what to throw out, what to keep, what to take...you get the idea. :)

I am trying to figure out how to add these pictures properly...still working on that. :P They are from Jeremy Newton (whose family I will be living close to in Madagascar). He just ventured out into the rain forest and was warmly received by the Tanala people and got permission from the leaders of some tribes to do medical stuff there. They requested medical assistance on a lot of diseases caused by impure water, teenage pregnancy, and heat exhaustion/stroke.  There have been some murders in the area, so please pray for the safety of the foreigners, as well as the Malagasy people. If I figure out how to get the pictures on here, you will see from the road conditions that driving is not very feasible, so we will be hiking a LOT!

Several of you have asked for my addresses. Well, here is what I have so far! I checked out pricing and it is 98 cents to send a letter via the USPS. Shipping boxes is insanely expensive. I like letters! lol. If you do end up sending a box, please write a very small amount on the "what it is worth" line or else they will charge me a lot more at customs when I go to pick it up (yes, this is one of those places in the world where you have to pay to send the box AND pay to pick it up, and it's really based on how much the workers want from you!).

This is where I will be training until December 10th:

This is where you can send stuff if you want it waiting for me in Mada:
***address deleted****

This is where I will be doing language training from January-April or May(ish - I'll be in Zambia for a month of that).
***address deleted***

Please continue to pray for me as I prepare for training, and lift up the Tanala people of Madagascar!

Love,
Cara :)

I was just told by a computer-less neighbor that I need to print all your emails and pass them out!
